I can also do aerial photography, crop dusting, and aerial tours within 25SM of the airport with a letter from FAA.
Why can't a commercial pilot advertise his services? I think you meant to say a commercial pilot can not provide his services and an airplane without an air carrier certificate except for the flights you list. I can certainly put my card on the wall of the FBO and say I'll ferry light airplanes for $500 a day. |

Yes, as long as you are not providing the plane you can advertise all you like.
Here's one gotcha though...if the plane is a rental then the CUSTOMER, not the pilot must rent it. You can't rent it it and pass the cost along...that would be you providing the plane. That means he has to meet whatever minimums the club has to rent an airplane (student pilot cert?). |

No. Were you going to fly to a certain place and circle for half an hour if the camera person didn't show up. Even if you pay all the costs the FAA will say you got hours toward your commercial and that's compensation which requires a commercial pilot certificate.
I haven't looked recently but I think photo ops, like sightseeing and CFI work, are still exempt from 135 requirements (but you need the drug program). |
