Default Refused the ATP Check-ride

Atttended Higher Power Aviation in Dallas for the 727-200. I made the choice to "Refuse the check-ride" after failing to grasp the transition from instruments to visual landing and crashing the sim repeatedly. Everything else was checked "SAT" on requirements but this one important thing I was unable to complete. I just couldn't land, making that transition. When it was a straight up visual approach i could land it all day long...... So frustrating... back to the FE seat until I get it figured out.

OK, I'll bite... If you are properly configured, the fuel flows set, on speed, trimmed, keeping the flight director in the "crotch", the boards armed, making proper use of the PNF and a stabilized approach; how could you screw it up? Gotta be something missing here you have not divulged?

So you can land it all day long unless you need to start 1/2 mile out instead of 5?

Something isn't adding up. You don't flare till 50 feet and even then you can just fly the glideslope into the ground in the sim and it'll work.

The initial reaction you are making is probably to "duck under", that is in your transition from the ILS to visual, you're letting the nose drop below the glide slope. When the PM calls lights in sight, continue, stay inside for a bit. Look up, get an idea of the sight picture, then back inside, rinse, and repeat. As above, begin your flare at app. 50 feet, it should work out for you.

The more I think about this posters question, the more uneasy it makes me feel... If they are for real, it would seem they would already have access to all the help they could need. I realize the talk is of landing, though I would not want to help someone misappropriate/misuse an aircraft either... I would sincerely caution others regarding offering further assistance. If you are for real, I offer my sincerest apologies; however I think it might be prudent to error on the side of caution here...

^^^^ This. It is one of the biggest mistakes I see on check rides. People break out, and either dive towards or turn towards the runway. Stay in that flight director, don't take out that crab, don't dive.

What, landing an airplane out of an instrument approach is now classified information?

Of course it is not "Classified" information... However the nature of the question does, for me at least, raise a red flag. Personally getting more in depth or further sharing certain particulars might be imprudent; though that is only my opinion...

Who still flies the 727? I thought my 707/727 Type Rating was useless...

Turkmenistan Airlines still flys them. Used to ride in them every month when I worked over there.
