They have 1 EAS route from LAX to Imperial, CA. That's it for their mainland flying. I have no idea on schedule.

Can anyone describe what the training is like? Thanks!

I have a simulator business and provide pilot career counseling and mentoring services and specialize preparing pilots for 121 & 135 airline training. I recently had one pilot (a friend of mine), I’ve worked with complete training at Mokulele.

First they send you a study guide to pretty much have memorized prior to showing up for training. It includes aircraft limitations, emergency memory items, profiles and callouts etc.

Ground school is done in Maui for about four or five days. Then you immediately start simulator training. They own an aircraft specific Caravan Redbird with a G1000. It’s a total POS simulator. This really threw my friend. He was used to my simulator which flies closer to a level C or D sim then to a Redbird. They didn’t use the motion because instructors thought simulator was crap. My friend got a day or two behind because he tried to really fly the sim like an actual airplane, by using the yoke for pitch. Instructors told him to stop using yoke and just use pitch trim for pitch control.

You really need to be familiar with a G1000 prior to starting training. After four or five simulator sessions if your released to flight training, you go to your base for aircraft flight training. If your not ready for the airplane they will give you a extra sim session or two. But if after your extra sims your still not ready to move up they will send you home as they don’t want to spend money on extra airplane flight training. They do send home pilots prior to flight training if your not ready to move to the airplane.

My friend did his flight training either early in the morning or late at night. Instructor was happy my friend was very proficient in the G1000. Made the comment “we don’t want to waste flight training teaching the G1000, you should know it”. After four or five training flights you get a check ride in aircraft and then IOE.

My friend likes the pilots and the company. Obviously not happy with FO Pay and trying to live in Hawaii. Great place to build time. Also Southern Airways Express bought Mokulele and they will operate separately but intend to merge 135 certificates. Not sure if Southern will control all hiring for both carriers.

I have a few pilots I’ve worked with at Southern Airways Express. They use a Level C Full Flight Simulator at Flight Safety for initial and a Level C at Fly Right for upgrade training. They had much better training experiences then my friend at Mokulele.

That’s what I know, hope this info helps? Best of luck!

Looking for current updates for Mokulele from any current pilots - captain or SIC. PM's welcome.

Had a Mokulele jumpseater the other day, said his hours were cut back severely so he gave them away and went home to wait it out.

I’ve had such bad experience with them, but right before the virus, anyone have questions shoot me a PM

How does hiring work since they were bought out? Ive got an app in for Southern but do they ask which side you want to work for? Or do they tell you where they need you to go? The careers page on Mokulele just takes you to the Southern website now.

Painful experience for me , send me a pm
