Medical After Vertigo
Good evening all:
I am trying to figure out what I need to do. I am trying to get back into flying after being out of the business for five years. I have all my tickets upto MEI. I'm hoping to start ground and flight instructing again after getting recurrent. The problem is, about 18 months ago, I had a single episode of vertigo. I do have a history of ear surgeries, however, my ENT that I visit every six months says whatever the cause was does not appear related. Rather, he called it a fluke that it happened. He says I am safe to fly after flying as a passenger and the right seat (time not logged) and the vertigo not returning. I want to be straight with the FAA, not hide it as some might recommend. What do I need to do to prove to an AME and the FAA that I am safe? I'm in the DFW area if anyone has a good AME to help me with this. I am sure they will need a ton of paperwork, but what all will they need? Thanks, |
