Banner towing 2015 season

Hopefully this thread will be useful to anyone interested in banner towing with the most updated information on the season. So, has anyone been offered a job yet?, started training for the job?

Hey Soni, It seems like the usual companies are hiring. Most of the companies in NJ are looking for sticks soon. I want to check out Ocean Aerial down at Bunton Field

Now is definitely the time to get your applications in, at least for the places in Jersey. More than likely you won't hear back for a few weeks though. I would say training won't take place for the companies in New Jersey until late April or early May.

No idea what the guys in Florida/West Coast are up to...

Not a whole lot in NE Florida. Definitely opportunities in the Miami and Tampa areas.

Maybe too late for this season as memorial weekend is here. That's when the season really begins. Try looking around January to March for banner toeing jobs.

It's not too late for this season, I have two tow pilot openings (possibly) three here in the mid atlantic. We actually often times won't know exactly how many we will need until now.We can usually cover Memorial Day weekend with the family and local pilots. If anyone is interested feel free to PM me. We will take you with 250 hours , NO tailwheel time req, and obviously we pay for training. These positions would most likely have some split duty flying as we also run an air tour operation. Ie..if we have a light day on banners you may be asked to go fly tours. You won't find much information about us on the internet, main reason being for the last 15 years we have pulled from a lot of smaller local flight schools, most of our past pilots came from word of mouth recommendations from current pilots. Sadly the smaller schools are drying up.

Building Time

I flew for a great Banner Tow company in Myrtle Beach S.C for two summers. I built about 1500 hours. Very professional and safe. Loved it but had to move on to the majors. The name of the company is Barnstormers Aerial Advertising. They are a first class operation and would recommend to anyone wanting to build hours.
I have read some posts of pilots putting down towing rags but they either had a bad experience or don't know what they are talking about the business.
