What upsets me most about Skydive Arizona is that they treat their pilots as independent contractors not employees, which I feel is dishonest. And, as others in this thread have pointed out, is probably illegal.

I sent Skydive AZ a resume and offered to work on the weeknds, but never heard from them. On a side note, do they fly with two pilots, and if so how are those guys logging the time? I thought all of their aircraft were single pilot planes?

I sincerely doubt they would ever hire someone to work only on the weekends. I believe that, with them, it is "full time" only.

I believe it is only single pilot, unless someone is training someone. And it has been mentioned earlier in this thread that their "line pilots" will sometimes be pressed into instructing new-hires (without any additional compensation). And the feeling I get from the earlier posts is that this is done with or without the consent of the pilot giving the training.

Some of the military contracts, high altitude and other complicated drops require a sic by the dod or client. But yes all aircraft are single pilot. They have a new chief pilot now, don’t know them, but the last one was a very good person and highly involved and I doubt that the new one is as vested as the last

There is a way you can fix that, if you really want to:

I certainly hope the "independent contractor pilots" at Skydive AZ take advantage of this.

I see that Skydive AZ is now hiring part-time as well as full-time pilots. I was quite surprised to see this.

That's exactly what I was wondering. The add does seem to be saying they have 18-month-contract part-time positions.
