Low Hour First Officer Jobs

Looking for an up to date list of companies hiring pilots with total time between 500 hours and 700 hours.

prex8390 04-20-2016 12:37 PM

being flight instructor, banner towing or pipeline patrol is pretty much your option with that low of time

badflaps 04-20-2016 01:30 PM

You probably need to trot over to the Part 91-135 threads as they have more info on low time jobs. Over here, most guys have 700 hours in the ORD penalty box.

Hahahahahaha. True story!

Yeah, go teach. It'll make you a better pilot. Maybe look into Airnet as well.

Not in US airlines...1500 hours isn't just a good idea it's the law.

Great Lakes!

Mokulele airlines, boutique air, Cape air, Great Lakes, Grand Canyon scenic tours, Surf Air (I think their minimum is 800) there's a few, just not the easiest to get on with from what I hear. Good luck buddy!

Air Choice One if you don't mind signing a 2 year training agreement.

I've flown with a couple FOs here recently who interviewed at 500ish and showed up to training with 700ish.

If you have 135 vfr mins you could easily find a job in Alaska.

RyeMex 05-13-2016 04:51 PM

IFL Group on the Falcon 20. We've started hiring guys right out of their multi-training, for better or for worse.

Av8tr1 05-14-2016 01:29 AM

What are the minimums IFL is looking for?

RyeMex 05-14-2016 06:28 AM

Probably 300-400 hours. They're looking for low-time guys so that they can't leave as quickly. They've had ridiculous turnover. PM me if you want any specific details.

The temptation to take an FO job before reaching 1200TT can be very high.

Before accepting any FO or VFR captain job always think about how many hours you can CFI on the side in that location.

If the answer is 0 or close to 0 then do not accept that job.

It is faster to build time at a busy school than any FO/ VFR captain job out there.

Flying skydivers is probably the best way to rack up time quick. I would start out being a CFI first though because it is kind of hard to get a skydiving job with no time.

What hour stages would you guys submit new apps or send update emails? If added 50 hours or something or maybe when the next 100 hour increment? For example 300 to 350 or more like hitting 400, 500, 600, etc.?
Thanks!

I wish you gents and ladies still had the DC-3 SIC path open to you, I was blessed to find the old girl at 520 hours TT, it was more an apprenticeship than a job,but the learning, and the flying was gold. The freight dog dojo rules : ) !!!

What is the approximate salary and schedule for someone in that experience range? I'm trying to help a few low time friends.
