So are DECs more marketable than PDT CAs who got all their time here? Can’t see why they would be.

So will all our captains be gone in 18 months?

Missed ya buddy

Nope they won’t. Plenty of lifers plus a lot of people not even filling out applications to go outside the flow. DECs came here for one reason and that’s to move on as quickly as possible. There’s likely to be 5,000 people hired at just the big 5 over the next 18 months. Also for the other guy if you think our captain attrition is going to stay at 6 a month for the next 18 months your dillisional and stuck thinking in the piedmont bubble.

This, 100%. Well negotiated, PBS could significantly change QOL.

When people with checkairman letters and APD creds don’t get snatched up. It’s hard to buy that lowly line guys will all get a shot. However. You do make your own luck. So get out there and network.

If we don't continue to grow, the days of the 1000-hour-upgrade are gone. Not just gone for 2019 hires, gone for many 2018 hires as well.

It we stay this size and attrition stays similar to what it is now, we will have DECs holding CA spots that their seniority alone couldn't hold. They're going to be the bottom of their bidding group for much longer than the 18 months or so it currently takes to start improving in bid seniority.

This also means that there will be FOs that are more senior to those DECs that are unable to upgrade despite having met the CA requirements, a 'bypass' situation.
I’m not arguing that you’re wrong. I will say I think this event is a few years away though.

We have 400 line qualified people, roughly 200 in each camp. We lose 75 per year in the captain camp. So, over the next two years we need an addition 100 line qualified captains to be staffed + 75 for the loss from flow. Not counting attrition, I believe the “captain shortage” will persist for another year or so while they get settled in to the 60 jet situation.

Honestly, I’m praying we open a DCA base and get those 15 TSA birds. That’s the only way we’re ever going to get staffed enough to break the 850 mark for flow 7.

Who are the big 5?

Heard AA, UAL and DAL as the big 3 but who are you referring to?

I do agree the quick upgrades and DECs could be out of PDT more quickly but many of them are falling into the triple premium trap and letting their apps lapse while they chase the money. Time will tell.

Weird, plenty of check airmen with 5000 plus hours, updated resumes, letters of rec from good people not getting the nod.... makes me think it isn’t as easy as some make it out to be. I personally won’t settle for anything less than the BIG 3, because I’ve got less than two years to go. Would be really dumb to go anywhere else.

Maybe you were sent to us by the grace of god Mr DEC, but unless you know the secret that these quality candidates don’t.... I wouldn’t be so sure of yourself. Unless you will go somewhere that isn’t UAL/DAL/AAG

I’ve been a CA here for almost 2 years. Checked all the boxes including LCA and still crickets. I update my apps weekly.

Have you had your app professionally reviewed?
