You think we are the first airline to do CATII in a 145? It does it quite well, assuming the avionics are dialed in. It will be a good thing for everyone. Push us all to tighten our crap up, and the flaps 22 lovers will rejoice.

The autopilot does a pretty good job because It's just chasing the flight director, but If the FD is being fed garbage from a crappy ILS/LOC signal or receiver, then that's what the airplane is going to try and fly. Garbage in, garbage out.



With that said I agree that the result isn't always pretty and sometimes downright ugly. Shooting the ILS into MOB recently, the CDI was dancing left and right and the airplane was doing it's best to follow it. It was pretty bad. And then two hours later the same airplane flew a beautiful coupled approach into CLT.

You do know Envoy didn’t have CATII till around the 2014 time frame right?

Granted on a gusty day it appears to not do so well but I have always found that if you attempt to intercept the localizer at a reasonable airspeed and get configured by glideslope intercept, it does a good job. Just my observations.

You do realize that Xjet was doing CAT2 in the 145 since the early 2000’s.
