Good way to keep them on FO pay for a while longer.

I thought CA pay began day 1 after LOE check ride? You have PIC rating, you wear CA stripes, you sit left seat (with a Check airmen right seat albeit), I thought you got CA pay? So they are just making it more difficult to consolidate them, costing them more, which could result in requiring them to go through training again, but this time at CA pay? And causing more training back-ups.

Same at PSA. Cadets are beginning to get their time and are fleshing out the new hire classes. Plenty of RTP candidates. Forced upgrades for senior FOs with 1,000 hours in the right seat. Captains with less than 3 years to flow are mostly staying.

Plenty of others are trying to get out and just haven’t gotten a call. The reality is that by the time a Captain is reasonably competitive for a job at a mainline carrier or FedEx/UPS they’re within about 2-2.5 years to flow to AA. And for those of us hired at the right time, it doesn’t make much sense to jump ship due to the retirements at AA and the seniority list advancement / rapid increases in QOL we’ll experience due to the retirements there.

Most of the attrition at PSA seems to be from senior FOs and junior CAs. And I don’t see that changing. And as long as they can keep getting enough new hires (I don’t see any reason they won’t) nothing is likely to change.

You are still an FO on the paperwork throughout SOE . You get CA pay once you start your first revenue flight as a Captain. So even after SOE is complete you still don’t get paid...

You don’t get captain pay (unless DEC) until your first flight as PIC off SOE. During SOE you are an FO on the release and paid as an FO. They need to change that. Too many people who have been here are stuck on FO pay while in training while DECs are getting huge bonuses and CA pay day one. Just hope these DECs realize they will be at the bottom of the bidding seniority and getting the worst of the worst schedules while everyone else who’s been here starts/continues to upgrade.

I’ll one up you and say you should get CA pay at the effective date of the bid.

As for being PIC, you aren’t yet qualified for the position until completion of OE, as it should be. That is an FAA thing not a PDT thing

Street captains received CA pay from Day 1 while the upgrades sitting in class next to them were receiving about $20 per hour less and no exorbitant bonuses.

Well that makes perfect sense. I have never understood why the company takes a **** on employees that have been busting there asses for them, and treats the new hires so much better. I got a 5000 dollar bonus when i was hired, week two of systems the bonus jumped to 15000, should have known then it wasn’t going to get better.
