Plan to spend at least 180 nights in a hotel at piedmont.

At least ive seen the hotels improve a touch over the last few years but you will spend a lot of time in hotels.

Report day one fly away from base and overnight until you comeback and checkout day 4. Since there’s no protections in the contract for min days off between trips sometimes times you’ll get a little over 24hrs off from the end of your day 4 and have a 2 day start the next calendar day so report day 1 one get back to base day 4 come back and overnight day 5 and come back to base late day 6.

Could someone provide an update… How do schedules tend to look these days? Are there many (or any) 1-3 day trips? Is it only 4-day trips or some longer ones too?

I’m mostly interested in shorter trips. My family and I are planning to move to base.

1-3 day trips don’t usually exist. Schedules are mostly 4 day trips. They’ll sometimes give a 3 day with a back to back 2 day to make 5 days. This Is often done on popular vacation months to help reduce time off from conflict bidding.

3 day trips with multiple days off would probably come around year 4 as an FO if you chose not to upgrade or year 7 as a Captain right before you flowed.

1-2 day trips are usually created to utilize reserve pilots who have availability left in a reserve period after they’re assigned a 4 day. At the beginning of their 6 day on call period.

Plan on 4-6 days on and 2 days off and you’ll be prepared for Piedmont. If you want better trip quality go to PSA.

I think PSA just gave up SAP for the pay raises- without a vote from the pilot group?

SAP will technically continue to exist, but it will be tied to a reserve grid, so it will effectively be gone. That’s in trade for a 4 hour min day (no carveouts), trip and duty rigs.

That’s not until PBS though.

Oh Yea Bye Bye!!! PDT actually has some pretty good overnights and hotels have gotten better over the years on the PDT side. Nothing you can do about FAY overnight. That will always suck. LOL
PSA maybe marginally better on credit but drops the ball on efficiency. It is not uncommon to plane swap and sit every leg into the hub!

How is the piedmont life as a commuter? I live in the northeast but not close enough to drive to any bases just wondering if having to commute basically means you end up with no days off.
