Comparing the lowest pay/ QOL regional in Philly vs the lowest pay Major:
Total compensation for Frontier NHs vs PDTs NHs is less than $3000 over the first 2 years when PDTs bonuses are thrown in. After the start of the third year, Frontier pulls away. Frontier FO pay tops out above PDT CA and the 401K is a little better also. PDT is five years away from even starting full scale contract negotiations. PDT flies worn out old 145s and F9 flies new 320/321...
You may not see folks much beyond their second year at PDT make the jump to Frontier unless upgrade time at F9 drops to 2 years and/or they get a new contract but a PHL base will mean PDT and F9 will be in competition for the same pool of new hires who wish to stay local to the area, and/are older with a shorter career timeline/ or are transitioning to 121 and news a stepping stone airline.

If I were to recommend someone considering applying to airlines for a PHL base depending on what they were looking for, I’d recommend:
Most pay:
Frontier
Republic
PSA
PDT
Most stable/ least turmoil:
Republic
PSA
Frontier
PDT
Brightest future long term:
Frontier
PSA
Republic
PDT
Prior to the failed TA, I probably would have ranked things differently but the failure in the Union to get a TA even close to industry average (or overplay of managements hand, whatever you want to call it) has turned PDT a shrinking company, with a merger a very real possibility if things don’t change quickly and it can’t grow to staff the airframes it’s been previously scheduled to take let alone any growth beyond that.
An Envoy/PDT merger on Envoy terms will go poorly for the PDT pilot group, with Envoy wanting 4 or 5 Envoy pilots above every PDT pilot on the list below the top 300 Envoy pilots. The PDT Union wants straight DOH as with the Allegany merger but seeing how well the PDT Union negotiated this last TA, most PDT folks will be better off going elsewhere all together.

Umm...ok...why is this merger even a topic still? Very old rumor that started on Envoy side when they were having staffing issues and forcing upgrades. All it is now is a scare tactic. Please ignore all falsehoods of a merger. That is all.

Agreed. Talking like our union is negotiating for X and Envoy is negotiating of Y. Nonsensical.

It's foolish to think that any non-wholly-owned regional is stable in this environment. As labor costs escalate (not just pilots, but maintenance shortage), that money has to come from somewhere. I for one would rather be attached to the deep pockets of a mainline carrier.
