Is piedmont a good choice?
Hello all,
I have been following this forum for quite some time as I am now at my ATP minimums. I have a job offer from RPA, PDT and PSA. My long term goal is American Airlines, so it's great to know that I have the flow in my back pocket as insurance. I understand the flow is close to 7-9 years as a new hire, but I don't mind as I am very young with no family, so if I flow I will still be under 30 years old.
The biggest things for me when it comes to making my decision is 1) Living in base 2) Pay and QOL
I want the PHL base because I will only be an hours drive away from the airport. I understand RPA and PSA have PHL bases, but from what I've heard are very small and senior. PSA also seems to be very overstuffed with long reserve times. With that being said, PDT seems to be the best choice for me despite what I have read about "bad" QOL.
Is the QOL really that bad? I am turning to this forum to get a first hand opinion from those that fly at piedmont or any other of the regionals listed.

Piedmont is pretty awesome! Now we get paid a ton of money also. With being close to Philly Piedmont is the easy choice. 145 is a far superior airplane then the 175 also. You’ll actually learn how to use thrust levers instead of watching the plane do everything.

You’ll work 60-90 days more per year and make less money than your Peers at PSA and Republic thanks to PDTs lower pay rates, 75hr months with 11 days off for every line pilot.
You can hold PHL within a year at both Repubic and PSA. Your first year at Piedmont you’ll be sitting around doing nothing and losing flight currency.
I would not recommend Piedmont who has the options/choices you do.

Granted, I left Republic 15+ years ago...and I'm not sure how they are now. They treated pilots in my day like sh*t, and the union was completely powerless... The FAA had to investigate things Republic was doing to the pilot group... j/s
