The only numbers you can trust are from yourself. Keep your ear to the ground and pay attention to the seniority list, and certainly don't base any financial decisions based on what the company tells you is going to happen. Look at what's happening over at Trans States and ask yourself if you want to rely on what management feeds you. Get your apps in, spend your money wisely, and get out as soon as you possibly can.

^ This 100%.
PDT's future as an airline is extremely uncertain. In no way shape or form is it closing up shop today, this year, or even in 5 years. But let's be realistic, It will not be around forever in its current form. PDT is a ground handling company with a small flight department. The 145s will be retired eventually and the 50 seat market will be shaken up massively in the years to come. You really think AA is going to allow a 175 to operate from PHL to ABE? Apply some common sense folks.
Be smart, and try to hold off on major life altering decisions until you reach whatever legacy job that you are aiming for. Doing anything major while still at PDT is a risk you take.

Piedmont's flight department is such a prime target for a merger, it wouldn't be a surprise, at all, if it were wrapped into another airline within the next five years, turning Piedmont into just a ground handling company (which it practically is already).

I’ve heard from multiple sources that there will be a big shift in regional flying this year with all the American wholly owns. If you are at piedmont you need to have your apps out NOW!!!! The future at piedmont isn’t very certain, especially seeing what has happened with TSA. I’m telling you guys and gals, do yourselves a favor and update your apps.

While the situation at Trans States is different than at a WO, you have to look at the reasons behind what happened there: pressures and changes to the 50 seat jet regional market. While being wholly owned adds security, it does not make you immune to market pressures and AA will do what it has to in order to be as profitable as possible, regardless of the effect on your life. Again, not saying anything is certainly happening at Piedmont, but it’s worth paying attention to changes in the industry.

TSA was unable to adequately staff their company and also be profitable. 50 seat jets is not the reason for them going out of business. Their planes are being immediately transferred for continued operation.
