Dash8 PIC restriction
Any of you old Dash trash know how to get the “the dhc8 is subject to PIC limitations” removed from my certificate? Do I do a type ride from the left seat? Is it based off hours?

Recommend reading FSIMS.FAA.GOV, Volume 5/2/5, Par. 5-324 on how to remove the SOE Limitation.

Yep, did mine when I renewed my CFI. Had to do a paper app for some reason because IACRA wouldn’t take it. The guy at FSDO walked me through it. Very painless.

Do you have to be a CA with 25 hours to have the SOE removed? I obviously understand it has to be PIC time, but can the FO count right seat time towards the SOE?

https://fsims.faa.gov/wdocs/fsb/dhc-8_rev%204.pdf It might be worth checking in the FSB. I know on single pilot typed airplanes it often says SOE time must be done from the left seat. |

I quoted it above, but you can read it straight from here if you prefer. They define "PIC" in regards to this issue, and you can be in the right seat as a first officer. PF counts as PIC |
