Dash8 PIC restriction

Any of you old Dash trash know how to get the “the dhc8 is subject to PIC limitations” removed from my certificate? Do I do a type ride from the left seat? Is it based off hours?

Recommend reading FSIMS.FAA.GOV, Volume 5/2/5, Par. 5-324 on how to remove the SOE Limitation.

Thanks. I didn’t realize it was related to SOE. Should be easy to get it removed.

If you ever wind up at the FSDO to get your CFI renewed or whatever, a lot of times they’ll do it no problem without the paperwork. I still need to get mine removed but I’m in no rush

Yep, did mine when I renewed my CFI. Had to do a paper app for some reason because IACRA wouldn’t take it. The guy at FSDO walked me through it. Very painless.

Do you have to be a CA with 25 hours to have the SOE removed? I obviously understand it has to be PIC time, but can the FO count right seat time towards the SOE?

The requirement in § 61.64(g)(3) that the flight time be obtained while “performing the duties of pilot in command” does not have the same intent as performing the duties of PIC under 14 CFR part 121. A legal interpretation clarified that in the context of part 61, “performing the duties of pilot in command” is equivalent to pilot flying (PF). This legal interpretation also clarified that a pilot may log PIC flight time when the pilot is the sole manipulator of the controls in an aircraft for which the pilot is rated.

It might be worth checking in the FSB. I know on single pilot typed airplanes it often says SOE time must be done from the left seat.

I quoted it above, but you can read it straight from here if you prefer. They define "PIC" in regards to this issue, and you can be in the right seat as a first officer. PF counts as PIC

Already talked to the FSDO about. All they want is a logbook showing that I flew the dash8 and it is assumed that I was pilot on the controls half the time. I don't want to get into a logging PIC/SIC argument with the APC police. As far as the FAA is concerned, you can log PIC time as pilot on the controls even if you are an FO in part 121 operations. There is even an FAA legal interpretation letter on the issue which I am too lazy to search for cause I'm really drunk right now. Cheers brothers.
