Default SODA/Waiver

Hi,

I was just wondering if a pilot with an FAA issued SODA or Waiver for a medical condition (Vision) may be able to find work outside of the U.S with European or Middle Eastern airlines? I know that standards may be different, but I was just curious to know if on the basis of the evalutions done by the FAA, other aviation bodies may give consideration to granting a Class 1 in their territory?

I can pretty much guarantee no reciprocity on medical certification between most nations (except possibly for private pilot ops).

Your FAA paper *might* help your case a little bit if the conditional is waiver-able in the jurisdiction in question. That fact that the FAA was good with it might influence their decision. But it will not be granted prima facie.

Many overseas carriers require an unrestricted medical. Therefore it would depend on the country and the specific airline. You should be able to review medical standards on their authority website to get a better idea.
