Go to www.aviationmedicine.com to get the gouge. Get your surgeon to give you the surgery report and ask him/her for a letter clearing you to "unrestricted activity" after your recovery. Show these to your AME at your next exam.

Do disclose these to the AME as the FAA is going to crack down on this soon. Failure to come clean can cost you your license as well as a ton of cash.

As for airlines, some still have medical reviews, but most just want you to produce a class one medical at the interview and on your check rides and line checks.
