Not to discourage the OP from working towards getting your medical back, but you might also consider a different career path.
If you're susceptible to to serious mental health problems, that may always be hanging over your head, and being a pilot can make it worse since you will be very reluctant to seek help if needed, or openly discuss any issues with providers. Most other careers don't put you in that catch-22.
If it was a one-time thing with an obvious root cause (major life stressor), then your best way ahead is just to get your medical back and move on.

Im gonna suggest again to op this isnt best place to find the answer or process.
The example was of a short term episode. Not a chronic years long condition.
When it come to ones medical, license, and livelihood its best to seek solutions from those expert and qualified to help.

It can be in certain circumstances for otherwise healthy people. It's typically avoidable once you understand how circumstances can get you there. But if you're more prone to it than normal, that could be a problem for aviation.
