Default WOW BP Dropped 20 pts!!

Went for my class 1 medical yesterday (leaving for ATP on Saturday) and Doc mentioned my blood pressure had dropped 20 points since last visit. The only thing I did to help was quit smoking 7 months ago. I knew it was bad but...WOW 20 points??!!

Default Great!

That's great! Just make sure you don't gain 20lbs like I did. Quitting smoking was one of the hardest and most rewarding things I ever had to do. It's easier to keep from gaining the weight than taking it off after gaining it. Good luck...ExAF

wow. I didn't know quitting smoking would help that much. Congrats on that! Will being overweight be an issue to getting a 1C?

Not if you're young. But in the long run it will keep you from getting hired at any major airline, and might be a problem at the regional level when hiring is slow and they can be choosy. Also as you age it will increase your risk for a variety of ailments, including T-2 diabetes...test positive for that on your FAA medical and your career is permanently ended at that moment.

Airline pilots can have a tough time staying healthy on the road due to lack of access to good food and long days. The best thing to do is start improving your diet and exercise plan so you are already in the habit when you start the airline thing.

Thanks for the info. Really appreciate it. I'm about 20 years old right now 6'3 255lbs. I need to drop about 25lbs more.
