Default Need a new Headset...Can I get a prescription

My headset after 10 years is taking a dump, it’s a Telex 850 and the wiring is going bad with one of the earcup audio intermittently working. I’ve heard of guys going to doc and having them write a letter/prescription so that they can buy a headset with HSA funds or insurance. Is this plausible. I have a ton in my HSA I’d like to use rather than out of pocket.

News to me.
Bit of a stretch it seems.
You can have the 850 refurbished by Telex for $190, good as new.
Silicone earplugs are $5 at Walmart.

If your hearing is in jeopardy (or declining) you might be able to make a case for that. I'd think a written Rx or note from the doc would suffice. If they audit and disallow, it's not like blatant fraud or something which would have consequences (other than maybe paying the money back).
