Workout Supplements

Anyone have an idea if there’s a listed of approved/not approved supplements for working out somewhere out there?

For civil aviation? I’ve yet to see one.

The usual suspects are safe for the average, healthy individual. Protein powders, BCAAs, creatine, etc. When you start getting into things like fat burners, pre-workout, testosterone boosters, etc—use caution. Make sure all of your supplements have been tested by a reputable, independent lab (USP, etc). I personally know of someone who popped positive for amphetamines after using a pre-workout he bought off the internet. Whatever was in it was close enough to an amphetamine to cause a positive result. Woof.

I don’t buy my stuff from a brick and mortar store like a GNC, but if GNC doesn’t sell it (IOW, internet only) I would be wary.

He did say it was the best PWO he ever used, though! Personally, I stick to Monster or black coffee for PWO.

The Navy classifies workout supplements, and I typically abide by their chart and recommendations. Well, with the exception of caffeine—for me, breakfast consists of caffeine and hatred.

Yeah stick with the mainstream products purchased online.

Better yet, plain protein powder and advil as needed.

Be careful with plant protein powder

A lot of the plant/vegan powders include Hemp seed protein as an ingredient. Generally wouldn't be an issue, but if the seeds are not hulled correctly then they *could* contain traces of THC.

What are you trying to achieve?
Weight loss?
Fat loss?
Muscle gain?

Dominance over the gland that raises your hand(s) towards your feeding hole (mouth)?

All of the above don’t need a “supplement”, just self control.

The better supplements will do you no serious harm.

My favorite is when people tell me that their supplement can’t possibly be bad for them, because it’s herbal/natural.

Black Mamba venom is 100% natural. So is plutonium.

I learned something. Thought plutonium had to be created in breeder reactors, but a quick Google search shows you're correct. It does naturally occur in very trace amounts.

For those that are not familiar with it, Black Mambas are known as two step Mambas. You usually take two steps and collapse. If you do not get anti venom in 30 minutes it is certain death.
