Default Diverticulitis Questions

42M, 70", 200lbs, don't drink/smoke, Abdominal pain lower left side for about 48 hrs, currently taking Meloxicam 15mg 1xday for neck pain. Prescribed Metronidazole 500mg and Cipro 500mg for 7 days for current condition.

I've had diverticulitis 4 times previously, today I presented with all the classic symptoms and the doctor ordered a CT scan and a surgical consult. The only problem is the earliest I can get a CT scan is 15 days from today (5/16). With a my current treatment of antibiotics, which I've always responded well to, is a CT scan going to show anything? Will the surgeon have anything to base his consult on other than I've had 5 bouts of this in 10 years? Would the Doc even see anything to cut out if the choice was made to go in? Earliest I can get in to see the surgeon in 6/09.

I heard surgery help a lot for diverticulitis, but before I recommend a colonoscopy and they are going to recommend you something after that.
But i'm not sure, I feel like they offer the surgery for your quality of life.
