weight...

I'm going for a class 1 med on monday. I little concerned because I have gained a few pounds in the last few months. Can one be denied a class 1 med because of weight even if the vitals are fine and there are no other problems?

Doubtful. If your BP, pee test, and other vitals are within range you should be good to go.

Thanks. I've gained about 50 lbs. in thast 2.5 months. Starting to lose it now though.

There is NO weight requirement that I am aware of. Most of the majors use to have them even some of the regionals, most simply said weight appropriate for height and build... but many have even taken that out now.

I would not call putting on 50 pounds in less than 3 months "gaining on a few pounds." Unexpected weight gain could be a symptom of a more serious illness. Personally, I would get a full physical, including blood work, from my regular doctor ASAP and find out what, if anything, is going on before getting your FAA medical. JMHO.

Yeah, unless you know WHY you gained that much get it checked out before you see the AME.

Most regionals probably wouldn't care right now. But even though the majors may no longer have a hard and fast BMI criteria, being over weight would not make a good impression with the typical ex-military culture.

50 lbs takes years unless you were an ex fatty and lost weight and then stoped the diet and excerise if thats the cases then you know what you have to do to loose it but if not it could be a medical issue.

Rapid Weight loss or Rapid Weight gain can really screw up your body.

I lost about 20 pounds in 2.5 months and you really feel some "interesting" things sometimes while your body adjusts. (disclaimer: I was under doctor supervision and going to the doctor about every two weeks during that time)
