keystone color vision test
I'm going in to take the Keystone color vision test Monday. I passed such a test many years ago by an AME. After I moved away from Mississippi and went to another AME for another physical, I failed, cus they tested me with the regular plates. I finally tracked down what test it was I originally passed, the Keystone. Much to my surprise it was an FAA approved alternate test. I found one at the college of optometry in Memphis and I'm going in Monday to take it. I passed it before, but I'm soooooooo nervous about not passing it again. Can you guys assure me that a Keystone is a Keystone? That they are both the same? I so need to pass this test Monday. I'm a nervous wreck. I just need that letter of evidence so I can put this issue behind me.
On a side note, could I go back to the AME that originally did the test and get him to send something to the FAA so I could get the letter of evidence?

Too late now, but you need to research your AME's a little better. A long time ago I failed a color vision test during a job interview, it was the one that are on cards. Anyway I had never failed (and haven't since) or had any trouble passing any color vision test except this one. Anyway the airline called me still offered me the job pending passing this particular color vision test. It may have been the Keystone, I have no idea. So I call every optometrist in town and they tell me the test is an old test and that hardly anyone uses it anymore. I took about 4 or 5 different types of color vision test and passed them all. Every doctor wrote a statement that my vision was perfect, it didn't do any good. Finally after about a week of calling around to find this particular test, I found an AME about a 2 hour drive away that still used this test. I drove to his office, sat down and passed the test with no problem. That's when I saw what I think was he problem, his cards were in much better condition that the first time I took the test, the colors on first test were worn and faded. If/when you get this sorted out you really need to find a more pilot friendly AME.
