Just wondering if anyone has personal experience obtaining your 1st class medical after suffering a severe brain injury. I've waited long enough from my denial 5 years ago and am about to send in all my paperwork. Would love to hear other personal stories on this topic.

If you haven't already, I would suggest that you talk to an aviation medicine consultant BEFORE you contact the FAA or an AME. You situation is complicated, and the government usually takes a long time to make complicated decisions. An outside consultant can make sure your paperwork is in order, and help you avoid pitfalls. They will know in advance what the FAA will require as fas as documentation and mdical history. I have used these folks, other people here can suggest other similar services:

Rickair, I've actually already done my flight physical (for this second time around). My AME has been terriffic and personally spoke with the neurologist is OK City. He said I needed a new MRI, neurology exam, and neuropsychological evaluation. I have my final neuropsych. tomorrow, and so far everything has healed up and my tests are coming back normal. If this ends up being a dead end and I end up using such a service for the appeals process, what is the procedure for how it works. Cost, etc?

Sounds like you might not need help after all. You can usually get some advice (via phone or email) for $70-100. If they need to do follow-up work, it would be more obviously since these are real doctors who make real money.

That's a lot more inexpensive than I would have thought. Maybe if this goes to the next level, medical consultation is a viable option. Thanks much
