Medical certificate question

Medical certificate question
Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but do the airlines look to see how long you have had your medical certificate or if you have had long breaks without a medical when taking a look at your record? I ask because My FAA medical expired in 2000 and just renewed it this year, a 8 year break in medicals. However, have had a Air Force Flying Class I physical the entire time. Just curious if they looked at your entire medical certificate history, or if they just look to see if you have a current certificate when they are considering hiring you. Thanks

I don't think they would care unless the job you were doing at the time obviously required a medical! You did not need one in the military, and it's typical for military guys to go overseas or get other jobs which would preclude civilian flying for a period of time.
I suppose certain AAirlines might ask if your first class lapsed because of a medical problem...just tell them no.
Actually I'm not sure they would even be able to find out that your medical had ever lapsed.

As long as you hold a Class I at the time of interview you should be fine. They could get your entire medical history from Ok City, but who has time for that? Not to mention, for your case in particular it is not an issue - completely explainable and understandable. Don't worry!
