Default Mud\Wtr Coffee Substitute (Any experience?)

Hello All,

Can't seem to find any mention of this on the forums, just wondering if anyone has tried it... or if anyone would be worried about the mushroom ingredients... in terms of it causing one to pop positive on a urinalysis?

https://mudwtr.com

INGREDIENTS: Organic Chaga, Cordyceps, King Trumpet, Lion's Mane, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Maitake and Shiitake cultured on organic oats and/or organic sorghum.

And nope, I'm not in any way, shape, or form associated with these folks... have just heard about it from some people that are exercise nuts/health conscious... and I'm just thinking about it for its potential health benefits, while also looking for something with less caffeine than coffee.

Many thanks!

PCP is on the DOT panel. It's synthetic.

Don't know if mushrooms of any sort produce a natural analog that's close enough to pop.

Also don't know if the 'shrooms in the drink might be related to "magic" mushrooms. Kind of doubt it.

Ask the company if their product is a "food" or "supplement". If it's sold as food it should be FDA regulated. Although even that's not 100% safe, the Navy had some people pop due to some poppy-seed bagles which had been made with some very potent imported poppy seeds.

Thanks! Hadn't thought to ask if it was FDA regulated, but I will.

Just received the following from them when I inquired if they had any experience with DOT workers using their product. They didn't answer my question directly, but they did provide some amplification on their ingredients.

Thanks for reaching out! We're glad you're interested in trying our products! The MUDWTR :rise mushroom blend consists of four adaptogenic mushrooms species: Chaga, Reishi, Lion’s Mane, and Cordyceps militaris
  • The Organic Reishi Mushroom Powder contains both mycelium and fruit bodies. Masses of Reishi fruit bodies in the elongated “antler” grow and cover the exterior surfaces of the mycelial blocks. The hard and fibrous fruit bodies make the dehydration and milling of the biomass a challenge. The Reishi fruit bodies provide bitter-tasting triterpene compounds. The bitter taste of the fruit bodies is moderated by the sweeter and milder tasting mycelium in the finished mushroom powder.
  • The Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom Powder also contains both mycelium and fruit bodies. Masses of fruit bodies cover the exterior surfaces of the mushroom blocks at maturity.. The mycelium contains nootropic erinacine compounds while the fruit bodies provide nootropic hericenone compounds.
  • The Cordyceps militaris Mushroom Powder also contains both mycelium and fruit bodies. Masses of many small and lightweight orange-colored fruit bodies form on the outer surfaces of the brilliantly orange-colored mycelial blocks. The other medicinal Cordyceps species *Cordyceps sinensis (*aka Ophiocordyceps sinensis) does not produce fruit bodies when cultivated. Cordyceps militaris produces higher levels of active ingredients than Cordyceps sinensis as both wild-harvested products and as cultivated products grown on organic substrates.
  • The Organic Chaga Mushroom Powder does not contain any fruit body tissue. This is also the case with wild-harvested Chaga “conks” that are comprised of a hardened mass of mycelia and no fruit body tissue. Wild Chaga fruit bodies are inconspicuous, seldom spotted and are quickly consumed and disseminated by forest insects The research on Chaga has been done on the conk or mycelial stage of this mushroom’s life cycle rather than the fruiting body stage. Chaga grows very vigorously on an organic oat substrate and does a thorough job of enzymatically digesting the oats and converting them into a very hard and solid block of mycelial biomass.
Each mushroom is grown on organic oats or organic sorghum and the fresh mycelial biomass and fruitbodies are air-dried at controlled temperatures depending on the specific mushroom species to preserve the bioactivity of temperature-sensitive active ingredients such as proteins, amino acids, and extracellular compounds.

The mushrooms in mud do not contain psilocybin which is a hallucinogenic compound. So, they will not show up on a drug test of any kind.

Sounds like it’s probably safe, but you are playing with a very valuable career. I would run this by your AME or primary care doctor. The problem is if a bad mushroom makes it into a batch, they go oops and you possibly lose your ticket.

It’s not one of the listed ingredients but as a word of caution about herbal supplements, it’s not all just innocent Tinkerbell Tea.
