Default How do you get prescription Serengetis?

I've even called Serengeti and it seems the only dealers in my area are Sun Glass huts. I'd really like to get prescription Serengeti shades but it seems like the only way to find them is to order them on line through sites such as Optics Planet. I have vision insurance and was hoping to apply my insurance toward the purchase of a pair as they are expensive, around $400! Anyone know of where you can get them? Nationwide or Lenscrafters don't carry them.

I have used a variety of prescription shades from lenscrafter. The raybans work well. They don't always get them right the first time, but they are willing to keep trying (at no charge) until they do.

If the vendor does not process your insurance, you can still probably file a claim for reimbursement after the fact. Check with the insurance company, but you can probably use any vendor you like.

I used Frames Direct for a set of prescription Oakleys. My eye doctor said that it was impossible to make them, because the lenses wrap around. Frames Direct does a fabulous job. All you have to do is set them up with your prescription, by entering it online and faxing it (for legal reasons, kind of like a doctor's union). After that they take 1-2 weeks.

The only thing I have found so far is to order online from someone like Optics Planet.

Just a little off the subject... I've been thinking about replacing my Serengeti "Aviators" with one of Serengeti's more updated frames. Any recommendations?
