Does anyone know if you can..........

Hi, I currently have a slight color deficiency, now i have gone to my own eye doctor and have take the divorne, and Ishihara Color Test and have passed each fine. But my problem is that i have seen some AMEs plate books and there about 20-30 years old, falling apart and faded. Ive done a lot of research on the subject and this can make a difference for some one that has a slight deficiency. I have no problem with the test when the plates are taken care of and not faded. So my question is does the faa or ame's have a problem bringing your own Ishihara Color Test to your medical?? Thanks

Yes - since you could have handed them a set of plates that you have just memorized I would imagine that they would have a problem with it; though at the most I would bring a letter from your own doctor saying that he has tested you and that you have normal color vision if you are that worried that your AME would have plates so faded that it could affect your performance.

There are numerous other in-depth threads on the forum here that deal with the color vision problems. If you search for them and read them I'm sure you will get good advice on your options.

Good luck.

All of the AME's I've been to have had a machine that does your near/far, color, depth vision. No physical book that fades.

You could call ahead and see what kind of equipment the office has.

I highly doubt they would let you use your own book, but if you're calling anyway, you can ask!
