Don't know about the Brit equivalent to the FAA but assuming there is no underlying unstable cardiac issue after implant, it is very doable in the US. It isn't necessarily real quick and I would advise finding an AME/cardiologist combination who has already done one so you aren't paying for a newbie's learning curve, but it is certainly quite possible. Good buddy of mine just had a pacemaker installed. He was out only a couple of months and said it was all pretty painless.
