Another drunk pilot makes the news (delta?)

The line for the company is the completion of the Preflight checklist. This does not preclude FAA certificate action if someone shows up at the airport with the intent to work. Remember, they are two different things entirely.

Is it in the FOM? I'll have to look it up. I always thought it's when said individual step onto the aircraft when the line is crossed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but:
below .02, good to go
Between .02 and .04, you wait for a certain period of time and then retest. If you're now above .02, it's considered a positive test.
.04 or above, you're toast.

This "line" was changed a few months ago when the NWA and DAL policies were merged in to one. I am not big in to posting a DAL policy on here, so if you have questions call a DPAC guy, or ask your CP to reference the new DPAC manual.

As I understand, and I could be wrong, anything above .02 is a positive test to the FAA. Historically the FAA has revoked medicals and certificates after anyone has set foot on airport property. Company policies may be different.

Even if they hadnt pulled away, the fact that he was in the cockpit shows intent to work... Seems to me he is in trouble either way... Funny thing is in the US, nothing would have likely been done because MOST people dont show any signs of intoxication when their BAC is that low... Tough lesson to learn when that level with most people is only one or two beers....
