Default Which medical should I get?

I'm planing on a career in aviation and i'll be starting my pp training in the next few weeks. Is it possible to just go ahead and get a 1st class or will I have to wait? My way of thinking is that I want to be sure that i'll be able to get the medical before spending all that money. I'm in good health, but like everyone else I have had MINOR problems. What all is involved in each medical examination? I'm 20 years old, 5' 11" and 200 pounds. Should I lose some weight before going to the doctor?

Thanks,

Nah, you're good man. Go for the 1st class now, to A. Make sure you can get it and B. it automatically downgrades with time to the lower levels, so no need to get anything lower than a 1st anyways.

The test is a typical physical; pee test, turn & cough(well, dunno what the girls do), eye-sight, hearing(usually they walk behind you and just talk about random stuff, check periphial(sp)), and some breathing tests. I'm 5'10 and same weight, but I was at 230 last year and passed with flying colors. But in reality, yeah, lose the weight, easier now while we're young.

Go for the first and tell the AME about your plans. S/He'll look harder at you and will tell you if you currently have-or are tending to-any long term medical problems. Better to find out now than later after you spent the money.

Another vote for the 1st class. Also I wont preach, but many companies are cracking down on poor health. Just makes for another excuse to change the diet.
Good luck.
