Disqualifed For Initial Medical

Update:
First of all let me say hello to everyone out there. Long time no "see". Second, I'll just say....."he's baaaaack"!
A couple of days ago, I'm sitting in the lobby of a hotel and p/u the USA Today and it has an article on the how great of a demand there is going to be for pilots starting later this year and continuing for the next several years. Obviously, after reading the article, all I could think about was my situation.
Well, after reading the article, I call the HIMS examiners in MCO and left the message that I wanted to know that during my 2nd HIMS eval, did either one of them noticed/observed any behavioral traits associated with anti-social personality disorder (ASPD). Remember now, after my 1st HIMS eval, medical certification WAS NOT recommended. They listed their reasons why and among those reasons why was mentioned ASPD behavior trailts. After my 2nd HIMS eval, where medical certification WAS recommended, there was no mention of ASPD. I'm sure if there were any, they would have mentioned it; but since there wasn't, why write anything.
After contacting the doctors in MCO, I called Kathy Lincoln, Medical Appeals, in DC. I asked her to have the Chief Psychiatrist of the FAA to call me and give some plausible explanation of why I was led to believe that by completing the HIMS Program and its criteria, that I would be on my way to flight school. She explained that the Special Issuance process starts with me attaining a HIMS AME (which I did...the guy in Vero Beach) who completes another Form 8500, then attaches the recommendations FOR MEDICAL CERTIFICATION from the HIMS evaluator in MCO; all records pertaining to my 6 month intensive outpatient program; and all records pertaining to my Aftercare program to OKC. The HIMS AME in Vero never did any of that. You would think that he would question the HIMS evaluators in MCO as to whether or not if I have any traits of ASPD. He stated that he had been on the phone with the physicians in DC and that they had determined that even though I'd complete the HIMS Program for alcohol abuse, the ASPD issue had not been addressed, therefore, I'd be denied.
So you know...now thinking...did this guy in Vero Beach just get me for 2K? Did he make a unilateral decision concerning my career? Oh, btw, I received no written correspondences from the HIMS doctor in Vero Beach, FL pertaining to conversations with the physicians in DC.
Talk about learning by trial and error. It's good to be back in the pipeline.
I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for the update ATP. If anyone wants fly you do, and I suspect your previous disquals are no longer active and you will get your medical certificate soon. And I hope you get to fly, even as a pro. But remember that while flying is a great thing for sure it is never the only thing making life worthwhile.

But again, remember...when the recommendation for me WAS NOT TO BE MEDICALLY CERTIFIED, anti social personality disorder behavior traits was listed as one of those reasons. Now, when the recommendation for me TO BE MEDICALLY CERTIFIED, nothing was mentioned about ASPD behavior traits. I surmise its a mute point. However, the HIMS evaluators in MCO will be able to verify that.
I talked to the HIMS AME in Vero (the one who will sponsor me in flight school) yesterday and he suggested exactly what I did a few days ago and that was to contact the HIMS evaluators in MCO and request an addendum to the original recommendation to include something in writing addressing the absence of ASPD behavior traits. Once I get that, I will forward copies of that addendum to the HIMS AME in Vero and to the Medical Appeals Office in DC. Hopefully the physcians in DC will reconsider and give me the go ahead. If they do, THEN AND ONLY THEN, would I contact the HIMS AME and have him to do the Form 8500 (Special Issance), attach revised recommendation for medical cert from HIMS evaluators in MCO, attach records from the 6 month intensive outpatient program from the Hanley Center and the outpatient aftercare facility that I attended once a week. He sends all of that to FAA/OKC who makes a decision. If they can't, then everything is forwarded to Washington DC or approval or denial.
Geez...talk about a diatribe!
