Also, afterward I always reward myself with a trip to France44 for a nice bottle of anything.

2 years ago I moved up to MSP and went to Occupational Medicine in Edina to renew my 1st class. I had made my appt with Tom Jetzer there based on recommendations from other pilots I had flown with at NWA. Upon going in things went badly. I found my previous AME's office had sent the wrong records up, but thinking I was ok went ahead with the exam. Jetzer saw me for less than 5 minutes and only asked me 2 questions with no opportunity for follow up, and due to procedures that had been done up to 18 years previously that the FAA had been ok with, he decided to defer my medical to OKC. He woke up the sleeping bear and I lost my medical. Bitter with him? Yes, but not for calling OKC, but for not helping me navigate the FAA mess he started with that phone call. He called me back once to say that OKC wanted more information regarding my medical. I called his office 9 times over the next 3 weeks and he literally refused to return my calls, leaving it to his secretary to tell me that he would not return my call until he heard from the FAA. He never did call, and I had to go through our ALPA aeromedical to find out what was going on with my medical. I did go later to Dr. Sidell to get his opinion on my denial, and will kick myself forever for not going to Sidell who was very professional and friendly. I was courteous with Jetzer and his staff. I would recommend that unless you are already seeing this guy, steer clear of him and his office.
