Does anyone have a recommendation for a good AME in the New York city area who doesn't charge you an arm and a leg and isn't a prick (excuse my french) ?

P.S -- If you check this Pilot Health Forum, there were a thread mentioning him in 2011. |
no such thing as a NYC AME who does not charge an arm and a leg I am
paying an arm and leg and kidney .($175)My old AME was affordable but he passed on . He was a90 year old plastic surgeon . It was great I got entertainment along with the exam . |
i know he's not right by JFK, but try looking up David Edelson in Great Neck

I ended up going to Dr Ceja at JFK Advanced Medical. They come and get you from the terminal and drop you off as well if necessary. Very nice guy and nice staff. He charged $90 for the Class 1 without an EKG, it would have been $120 with an EKG.

Dr. Ceja still charges $90 without an EKG as of today and I haven't been able to anyone that does first class for cheaper in the area....
By the way, I received a post card reminder from the office of Dr. Guardarramas in Manhattan few weeks ago and I gave them a call only to find out he charged $375 (!!!!) for a first class with an EKG. |
Dr Gerald Suriya. JFK Medport. $90 for a First Class.
I'm really paranoid about AMEs and didn't want to change from the AME I've been seeing in Orlando for years. But this Dr is very, very 'on your side' - I recommend this Gentleman. |
Thread bump.
What's the latest? I recently moved to the NYC area and last went to Dr. Ceja's. 2 hour wait. No thanks. |
There’s another Urgent Care at JFK next to the gas station with 2 AMEs (Dr. John Goutos and Dr. Oleg Olshanetsky). Was $125 and I went there when Dr. Ceja was so swamped that I was outright turned away for a same-day.
I have a ‘remarkable’ neurological history including a denial (gotta check ‘yes’ to quite a few bad boxes on the MedXpress) and I just showed up having not contacted the office beforehand. Dr. Olshanetsky just asked me a few questions about it between BP and eye tests, and then came into the exam room 15mins later with my Letter of Eligibility in hand (which I had pulled up on my phone ready to go). Few more questions that were along the lines of ‘so what exactly happened’ and I was good to go. In an out in an hour. Getting there may be tricky if you don’t have a car, though. I’m not sure about shuttle service, but one of the City Busses may stop around the corner. |
