+1 Myfitnesspal app. Ultimately, your weight is determined by the number net calories you take in during the day. You'd be surprised how many calories restaurant food contains and what a normal portion size is. That being said, 165 at 5' 11" seems pretty skinny, but only you truly knows your body. The first step in controlling your weight is knowing the number of calories that are going into and being spent by your body, and apps like this or lose it! Are great resources to gain awareness.

Lots of good advice here, calorie intake, stop soda and such. I found I was stuck in the gym mode and was not switching things up enough, chage your workout, and have a specific plan while working out. I also like both p90x and insanity and they force you to change your workouts. If you do those programs try to follow there diet plan. Best of luck.

Boat, I'm 5' 10", about 150' and have about 9% body fat. I'm also 58. I've got (a small) pot as well. It comes with age, I think, for most of us. Fitness? I swim 30-45000 yards per month, lift weights a bit, and bike 100+ miles. It ain't going away, and I suspect it's the same for you. At least you now know why older people wear their pants up so high.

You're wasting time if fitness and diet doesn't become priority #1. Great advice here but useless if you don't commit. At least you're asking and I hope yur serious. The heart cannot take the stress placed on it by 40-60 useless lbs. Good luck.

First of all, good for you for taking your health seriously! It's not always easy, and this job does make it even more difficult. 70%-80% of body image is nutrition, the rest is exercise. It doesn't take a lot of bad nutrition to counter any exercise you do. Running/cardio is good, but as others have mentioned, lifting weights is great. I highly recommend learning good form and lifting some heavy weights. Body weight exercises are great as well (think push ups, pull ups, dips etc).
I personally love to run, so I won't be giving that up, but weights are essential as we age. We sit on our duffs far too much without using any muscles to capacity. The weigh lifting sessions needn't be any more than 30 minutes 3 times a week. I know VERY ripped guys who use that cycle, you don't need a lot. If you have access, I recommend full body/large muscle group exercises such as squats, dead lifts, bench presses, lat pulls, cleans etc. These will work out large muscle groups as well as other your core and thus burn the most calories.
On the nutrition front, find out what works for you. Give an eating a plan a month to see how you feel/respond to it. Do you have more energy? Less? Are you hungry a lot? Do you enjoy it? Try low-carb, high-fat. Try Paleo. Try whole food vegan. I personally am a fan of whole foods, but still eat more processed sh** than I should. Good luck experimenting!
Please feel free to ask for more info.

You could take up smoking, and drink more coffee. Smokers don't seem to need to eat as much. A couple packs a day for a few months might yield the desired results. Seriously though... If you have tried all the normal stuff, diet exercise, Etc. you might want to see a doctor. An enlarged abdomen is/can be a result of several serious medical issues.
That's rough advice. The adverse affects of smoking FAR outweigh the metabolism boosting benefits.
