It's not much weight at all for that height, but like others have said that doesn't mean much. I'm 6'1"' 210. I also eat pretty good, I powerlift, and I'm always on a mountain bike or hiking mountains on my days off. At the hotel, I always have a jump rope and have several HIT fitness and crossfit routines I can do if I don't have access to a "real" (not. Hotel) gym.

Just smoke a pack of Marlboro reds and do a few lines. All the girls in my neighborhood do it and are thin as a rail.

Or quit soda. That helps too.

Lots of good advice here, calorie intake, stop soda and such. I found I was stuck in the gym mode and was not switching things up enough, chage your workout, and have a specific plan while working out. I also like both p90x and insanity and they force you to change your workouts. If you do those programs try to follow there diet plan. Best of luck.

Boat, I'm 5' 10", about 150' and have about 9% body fat. I'm also 58. I've got (a small) pot as well. It comes with age, I think, for most of us. Fitness? I swim 30-45000 yards per month, lift weights a bit, and bike 100+ miles. It ain't going away, and I suspect it's the same for you. At least you now know why older people wear their pants up so high.

You're wasting time if fitness and diet doesn't become priority #1. Great advice here but useless if you don't commit. At least you're asking and I hope yur serious. The heart cannot take the stress placed on it by 40-60 useless lbs. Good luck.

First of all, good for you for taking your health seriously! It's not always easy, and this job does make it even more difficult. 70%-80% of body image is nutrition, the rest is exercise. It doesn't take a lot of bad nutrition to counter any exercise you do. Running/cardio is good, but as others have mentioned, lifting weights is great. I highly recommend learning good form and lifting some heavy weights. Body weight exercises are great as well (think push ups, pull ups, dips etc).

I personally love to run, so I won't be giving that up, but weights are essential as we age. We sit on our duffs far too much without using any muscles to capacity. The weigh lifting sessions needn't be any more than 30 minutes 3 times a week. I know VERY ripped guys who use that cycle, you don't need a lot. If you have access, I recommend full body/large muscle group exercises such as squats, dead lifts, bench presses, lat pulls, cleans etc. These will work out large muscle groups as well as other your core and thus burn the most calories.

On the nutrition front, find out what works for you. Give an eating a plan a month to see how you feel/respond to it. Do you have more energy? Less? Are you hungry a lot? Do you enjoy it? Try low-carb, high-fat. Try Paleo. Try whole food vegan. I personally am a fan of whole foods, but still eat more processed sh** than I should. Good luck experimenting!

Please feel free to ask for more info.

OUCH. I quit three times over the years, and each time it completely reset my metabolism and changed my body type with an average 20 lb gain.

That's rough advice. The adverse affects of smoking FAR outweigh the metabolism boosting benefits.
