1st class medical question
Just received letter from FAA stating that i need an EKG. I had a first class medical in April at age 39, i shouldn't need one until my next 1st class medical when i will be 40, right? I did have my first EKG when i turned 35.

You need it renewed within 12 months under 40, and within 6 months over 40. I've never considered that transition period, but I assume if you got it when you were 39, that's good 12 calendar months.
Not sure about the specifics of your case, though. Did they say you need an EKG before your medical will be valid?

I would contact OKC and ask for clarification. They may have miscalculated your age?
But if you can't get it sorted out, I'd just go get another EKG rather than deal with getting your medical revoked...which will happen if they think they need something and don't get it.

Call them. Got the same letter a few months ago. They "lost" all records of EKG for 5+years for me. Sometimes they can find it using cert#, SSN, or pseudo SSN.
For me they couldn't. Had my AME send them copies, and then I started calling OKC after 5 business days.

FAA now requires the EKG to be done if you will be 40 years old during the duration of that medical certificate.
Had my exam in August, with my 40th b'day in October, and was quite surprised to be told that I would need the EKG.
