Special Issuance Medical

Anyone getting hired with one? Even interviewed?

ShyGuy 06-19-2015 05:15 PM

Are you talking about a SODA?

Al Czervik 06-19-2015 05:20 PM

I know DL, AA, UAL, Spirit and Southwest have in the last couple of years. I'm sure others have too.

Should not be an issue thanks to the ADA.

Yet United ask if your medical has ever been denied in the application.

Mine was denied last year and it took me 4 months to get it back. Just curious if anyone had had a similar problem and it worked out favorably in the long term.

Denied or deferred? Big difference.

LRShooter 06-20-2015 03:36 AM

Denied. I have to check that box now on the form.

I can't speak about wether it would be detrimental to getting hired but I can tell you, that as LCA for Delta, about 30% of the medicals I check giving Line Checks have a special issuance.
