What do you pay for a 1st class medical?
 

I would like to know what everyone pays for their 1st class medical without ekg? My Dr. Just raised his rate to $220.00. That seems crazy high. He also doesn't accept insurance.

$80 for the medical with the EKG, $45 without the EKG.

$220 seems very high without an EKG.

But then again, the last guy I saw in IAH was $200 without and $250 with the EKG. It was a lot but I liked him and dont mind paying above average if I feel comfortable with the doctor. Just as I wouldn't continue to see my current AME at $45 if I felt uncomfortable with the medical

I've lived in several different places in the country from expensive areas like SoCal to cheaper ones in the Midwest and have never paid more than $100 for a medical without an EKG. You're not going to gain a rapport with the Dr., you should just want a signature on a piece of paper. Why pay more? I think it's crazy 1st class medical costs haven't been bargained into our contracts, but that's just me.

Dr Griffin was doing them for $35 just north of DFW. Anyone know if he still charges that?

He went up to $45, I believe. Still the best deal in town, in and out!

$170 with the strip.

$120 in LAS

No EKG

$175 in the backwoods of Montana, but that includes a generous nut cupping by a geriatric with icy cold, liver spotted hands...so I guess it's worth it

I got mine today for $110 no EKG ($160 with EKG) in Maryland.

And he charged $70 with an ekg.

Now I pay $120 without and $200 with.

I think I need to move. $150 for each on the gulf coast in Mississippi!

Anyone have a good Doc in the Chicago area (N or W burbs)? I think I have to pay like $255 w/ekg for the one I found....ugh.

Prices have crept up and he maxes out my company allowance, but still not over. I think he must keep up to speed on the local airline's limits. In and out in 15 minutes yesterday, no EKG.

Called around here in ORF, there were 5 total AMEs but only 2 that do 1st class:

Dr. Glenn Carwell, $110 / $150

Dr. Richard Carlson, $110 / $160

I did mine with Dr. Carwell, I was surprised how much less involved it was compared to a military flight physical.

To bad there's not a ratemyame dot com. Anyone else want to keep adding to this thread for info. I'm curious if there's docs that take insurance and which ones are close to airports to get a medical on a layover.

If you work for Alaska or Horizon... Dr. Ranu Choudhary Kent, WA will take your insurance. Heard she was good.

He's a pilot, heart doc, and solid guy. I'd highly recommend him! He said he doesn't do a lot of medicals and I had no issue getting an appt.
