I submitted on 4 August, received by FAA on 8 August. I was "in line to be reviewed" until 24 October 2016. On 24 October it changed to "with a provider". I was really excited. Yesterday, 31 October, I called and was told they didn't have my EKG. My AME then resent it electronically. I called today, 1 Nov, and they had received it and I am in the "hold que". According to the lady at OKC, the hold que is first in, first out.

I have no idea how much longer but I wish I would have asked OKC months ago if they had received my EKG, I never thought to ask.

What a bummer!

Just found out my medical was approved. So 8 Aug to 1 Nov. Just under 3 months.

Congratulations! They asked me for some additional test results from two different hospitals. One really dragged their feet providing the requested imaging. As of 10/18, the FAA has everything.

Now, it's hurry up and wait.

Anyone have any experience with the turn-around time for a lapsed special issuance. My SI expired two years ago and I chose not to renew at the time. There has been no change in my health condition and will be sending them the reports as per my previous protocol requirements.

Any other experiences? I'm about 10 weeks and haven't heard much except that it is "under review."

I think it depends on your special issuance condition and how many specialists are involved in your review board. If you have more than one issue then more people will need to give the file a look.

I think the fact that it's under review with no additional required documents requested suggests you are close to an answer?

I was told recently that it was taking about 3 months on average. However Christmas/New Year holidays and leaves will probably add a month. Are you calling them every other week or so?

Yeah, I've been calling them. I have AMAS handling my case, which is a simple one issue case. I'm just ready to get back to work!

One important question to always ask them is if there there is anything required besides what you been provided? I checked on my SI once and they told me it was in line to be reviewed. Two weeks later I received a letter asking for additional tests which the gal never mentioned when I had called. So I lost over two weeks because the letter was dated prior to the call date and I could have initiated the tests much earlier. If you use a service I think they have a pretty good handle on everything.

Finally received SI today. So about 11 weeks from the time they received my paperwork. I used AMAS btw.
