I personally know 59 guys in rtp between Piedmont, psa, and envoy. About 42 of them have completed training and are on the line.
I can't attest to success other than having completed the initial training. There's an additional 5 guys that had started that dropped out. They were retired old timers that for the most part all said they didn't feel like jumping fields this late in life. I'm sure others have dropped or failed due to lack of effort and such.

We have base bids every few weeks. You will likely be assigned DAY or CVG in your first bid, but will most likely never be based there unless you want to be. Then a few weeks later (when you are still in training), you will get another bid and then a few weeks later (again...still in training), there will be yet another bid. So if you don't get what you wanted initially, you will have a few more chances. Right now, I think people are holding CLT by the time they finish IOE, or within a month. Take a look at the reserve/base grid that is posted here each month for continuous updates on base assignments and reserve times.
Once you start flying, you could (in theory) change bases every single month. Not sure why you would want to, but it could happen.
My first base assignment was DAY. Two weeks later, I was awarded TYS. Then when I finished sims, I was awarded CLT. At the time, I was awarded every base (we only had 3 way back then...) before I finished training and never worked in DAY or TYS.

I get a couple dozen PM's here each week, and if the question/answer seems relevant to a large group, I'll usually post that info here. Due to a discussion today, I will add to my previous post to make sure that I was not misleading about base bidding.
Once you are awarded a new base, it can take 6-8 weeks (or sometimes longer, especially around the December/January time for some reason) for that award to be effective. If you were awarded a new base in the last FO bid that closed a couple days ago, your new base would be effective March 2nd. So about 3 months for this most recent award. You need to plan ahead.
There have been months where this award only takes a month to be effective, so just look at the "effective" date.
Also, if you screw up your bid and bid incorrectly for a base (or do not bid at all) you will be stuck with something that you don't want. Bidding is pretty easy, and it is important to bid what you want.
During training, the bids are now done via our scheduling computer system (so I have been told...it used to be with a paper bid on the first one). If you don't pay attention to the email that they send you and do not bid correctly, or do not bid at all, then you will likely not get a base that you want.
So, pay attention and bid correctly. Pay attention to the details of when/how to bid. Plan ahead, and make sure that you bid for something that you want.
Also, just because reserve times or times to hold a particular base are currently "X" months, it doesn't mean that it will stay like that. The guys that post those grids on here each month are providing all of us a great service, and it is something that is incredibly helpful. But in the airline business, change is the greatest constant. Times fluctuate. Always plan on it taking a few more months to hold a particular base, and know that reserve times can always increase or decrease. We typically present what is happening right now, because that is real information and not a projection.
My intention on here is to present correct information and give you real answers. I do not get involved in rumors, and try not to engage trolls. Most all of the "regulars" on here know me and they will call me out very quickly if I were to post something that is misleading. In fact, when we set up this account, I sent messages to the majority of the "regulars" and told them who has access to this account and to feel free to PM, call, text, or email if we post anything that is incorrect or misleading. That still holds true.

for the life of me in flica i just can't seem to find the "effective" date. and also don't seem to have the email sent out with the effective date....is there a place in flica that will show this?

Is there a considerable difference in QOL between trip start/end times at CVG versus DAY? I live equidistant from the two and understand reserve times at each are currently identical, so not really sure where to go or if it even matters. Thanks in advance.

Both had early start late finish in my short stays at both bases. Good thing about being equal distance is you can bid the base where you'll have the highest seniority and be able to pick up open time in either base or trade trips from one base to the other in seniority based or first come

I'd do DAY unless you really want to avoid the 200. It has a mix of trips and it's really junior. The only guys that stay there are locals and management pilots.

Now that there is no construction on I-70 and I-75, DAY is the better choice for me. In CVG, you don't walk from the parking lot to ops as one can in DAY.

In reference to the attrition... I know in my class everyone has got through sims with the exception of one guy who came from another airline and I think we had 6-8 RTP guys and all got through. In the class behind us I heard they lost over half of their guys from failures (before sims) and a few during sims. Not sure what happened there or how you fail out before sims considering it’s very “CRM” based.
On the base award subject, that’s exactly what happened. I got based in DAY initially, then DCA, now CLT but my effective date is 02 MAR 18 so in theory it will take me around 6mo to hold SCR in CLT but hey those spreadsheets are estimates and not company made so there has to be room for error/fluctuation
