Commuter Questions
I have searched the forums but can't find the answer I need yet so here it goes. I will be starting the RTP program soon and was wondering if anyone commutes from the Dothan, Alabama? If so, how is the commute and do you have any recommendations for me?

What city would you be driving to in order to fly to work?
It depends. I live very close to Dothan but I have other options available. Three other airports within a 2.5 hour drive are Montgomery, Pensacola, and Destin. |

VPS and PNS both have plenty of commuters that use them. Flights from PNS include both 1 and 2 leg flights to CLT (like PNS-MIA-CLT), but I didn't check our other bases. I flew a DCA to VPS turn the other day, so I know that could allow a 1-leg commute. Making the drive to any of them will suck, but I'm sure some of the RTP pilots still live down there and do it. |

Dothan is a bit tough, I don't think AA operates there at all which means trying to jumpseat on whoever does.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out what was the worst of the two evils. Driving 30 minutes and trying to get a flight out of Dothan or driving 1.5-2.5 hours and flying on an AA flight. On a second note, what makes a two leg vs. a single leg commute so much more difficult? Maybe not being able to get the connecting flight to your final stop? |

Dude, either find a regional in ATL or move. A 2 leg commute from a small place like Dothan where at least one flight won't be on your own company is an absurd idea.

Just talked to a guy in CVG the other day who lives in Enterprise and has been commuting 2 years. It’s definently doable, you just have to sacrifice a bit.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Not sure a 3.5 hour drive to work for an airline without an actual guaranteed path to main line beats a 2 hour drive plus a 1-leg flight to be at a WO with a flow agreement. |

Good to know. There are at least four of us right now that plan to commute. Three with PSA and one with Envoy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
