Default Long Call Reserve

What does the LCR usage look like at the different bases?

Do they tend to get used before SCR, regardless of first/last out request?

LCR flys first. Bid long call if you're looking to get out of the house for a few days, they'll be happy to oblige.

It’s hit or miss. I’ve flown between 30-70 hours on LCR. Starting next month they are supposed to respect first/last out requests. We’ll see if they actually do.

Long call tends to get used first, then SCR, and HRV usually spends a lot of time at the airport, and goes out last, or for an immediate emergency. ex sick call, duty time issues, etc. When choosing between bidding LCR and SCR, one thing to remember is SCR can be converted (and usually does at least once) to HRV, which means airport duty, so you better live in base or have a crash pad if you bid SCR.

If you choose your base wisely, that's a non-issue. Is TYS the only base without hot (until ORF)?

Just got LCR for Feb and wondering how often do they call right at 12 hours and even before that wouldn’t it show upon crew mobile or flica even earlier?

In my experience, they will give you a one day out and back. Then, once you are on property, you will become a defacto hot reserve and they will run roughshod over your for the next four days.

How do you actually request to be first/last out?

you can't, it's all wrapped up in the wonderful bucket system. Oh and the bucket system is utilized and monitored solely by scheduling, so there's absolutely zero accountability. You're just assigned whatever garbage they feel like throwing on your schedule. Seniority doesn't matter, what base the trip technically belongs to doesn't matter, your sanity doesn't matter...
