PSA Rapid Upgrade?
#92
Still have 15 700s to transfer to realize our fleet plan of 150 airframes at PSA, then we begin taking another order of 900's for which they will swap the 200s one for one. Factor in 120 pilots a year for flow, and attrition outside of flow. I think they are planning for considerable attrition going forward. Also if you consider that to stop hiring would send a message to prospective pilots not to come here when they do start hiring. They would rather be fat pilot's for the short term, than to be caught short handed and competing for a diminishing resource.

The only reason dozens of people have Captain bids in is because they don't want to get Senior Manned to Norfolk. Better to have a bid in and have your base preference be considered to at least some degree.
Also how is it a fluke? The Union traded first officer seniority for a little bump in flow, that wasn't a fluke it was just a crap deal.

I mean the LOA allowing Senior maning was and still is indefinite. The company absolutely will not be giving up that bit of leverage that guarantees that they can fill every Captain class from now on without addressing quality of life.

Fluke 1: 1000 hr regulation, previously more people eligible to upgrade
Fluke 2: rapid growth. Half the pilot group was hired in the last two years. Eg everyone here before jan 1 2017 has to upgrade. Unless psa goes to 3800 pilots in the next two years, there’s no need everyone hired 2017/2018 to upgrade.

Anyone have a clue when the new AQP Upgrade program actually rolls out?
We were told it was approved in December, and should be in effect by April, but I haven't seen any company-produced information any time since then.
Thanks

Not sure but I was in the experimental AQP upgrade class. Compared to recurrent and my initial under the old system there really isn't any difference IMHO as far as you still need to get in the Sim and perform regardless of what system. In other words, the AQP didn't make it any harder or easier in my two cents worth.
