Putting all emotions and hurt aside, how often are you really DHing twice for one leg? Every day? Every other day? I understand the frustration, I fly part 135 right now, but I do know that the majority of the time everything is fine. Once a month or every few weeks #@$%# happens and at times I feel like it's "ALL THE TIME", but realistically it's not.

Pilots all seem to be Type A and a bit gung-ho but often a little over-entitled and exaggerated. I did 8.5 years as an Infantryman with a few deployments in the US Army, I know what suck is..... Sitting in my 40ft gooseneck trailer, chilling on reserve, 15min away from the airport isn't sucking, in my opinion.

I have unpaid reserve here at my part 135, but I chill and relax and if I get called I go fly. If I don't then I've sat for 2 days straight unpaid and played the #@$%^ out of my PS4 or PC and had a good time.

On a more serious question though, how often are you getting converted to HOT reserve? I hear HOT is not used every time at PSA. I might have to take my laptop to the airport and play my movies or games there..... That might suck,

They can displace me all they want. I bought a 40ft gooseneck trailer so wherever the regionals blow me, I'm just hookin up and rollin.

I feel that most pilots tend to only see the 121 world from one viewpoint. I will never commute and so my wife and I bought a huge camper to live in for the regional years. I can be in ORF or DAY in a day.

So if "displacement" is what puts PSA on the ##@%! list of regionals to fly for, then that doesn't disqualify it for me. That's why I'm asking these kinds of questions though, I don't want to base my decisions on the decisions of others. I can totally see how commuting would suck balls, so when a guy gets on here and talks about how ball sucking bad the "displacement" at PSA is, I want to know why? Because it might not actually be all that bad for me since I'm not going to put myself in that kind of scenario in the first place.

Food for thought, RV camper is great for regional living and reserve times. Man cave on wheels!

Ask the guys on reserve, they’ll tell ya how often it happens. But I absolutely did double DH out of DCA while I was on reserve for one leg. Very little exaggeration in my post, hence why I said it.

With all due respect, your exuberance is clouding your judgment. People where forcibly displaced from their homes and families to this so called "upgrade" where many people are taking a financial hit due to having a household with a family in one city and a crashpad or hotel in another base. This was done involuntarily and yet called voluntary, clearing the company of any financial responsibility to relocate these displaced individuals. This was done without any input of the voting membership who pay money to have representation. Promises were made to have improved reserve rules and those promises were broken. Families suffered when the single most important institution, seniority, was sold out. Had the voting membership had a voice, then maybe things would have been different. Back in history, large quantities of tea were dumped into Boston Harbor. Today, we sit idle and watch the unfolding of events gone unchecked.

Take your RV and go somewhere else (please).

Wow....

So, I'm sorry for those people. I never said anything about those people nor did I say that they should suck it up.

My questions and comments were based on people saying PSA sucks because of and only because of displacements as if that is the case for everyone who works there. If I come to PSA with the ability to relocate that will make my personal family story different. But should I still think PSA sucks? I agree PSA did not handle those families with respect, but you make it sound as if we are all supposed to walk away from this company because of how that was handled.

New hires like myself are going to be exuberant and excited. I'm sorry that that bothers you enough to tell me to stay away.... That's odd.

To add to this...

If you’re someone who likes to work and credit around 90-95 hours or more a month, you wont really see a raise when you’re forced to upgrade. You’ll be sitting reserve for at least 2-3 years as a captain making min guarantee with no bonuses. I’m a line holder now so it doesn’t affect me so much, but as a reserve captain you’ll only make about $400 more a month. Or 250-300 after taxes. That doesn’t include the cost of a crash pad and there’s a good chance you’ll be in another base for at least a few months so you’ll need one. So you pretty much just break even. Basically whatever you make your first year is pretty much the same salary you’ll make for the next 4 years until you can hold a line as a Captain.

If you are willing to relocate i really don’t know why PSA is even on your radar. You can move to an Endeavor or Republic base and make more than our reserve captains even on their first year FO pay and still have at least 15 days off each month instead of 11.

If you’re based in an outstation there’s a good chance you’ll almost always be deadheading to start and end a trip as a reserve. From reading our facebook page it sounds like pilots are starting to be used to the max to sit hot reserve, which is 8 times a month or basically more than 1/3 of your scheduled reserve days. To give you an idea how much reserve sucks we have plenty of senior guys here that live in base. They can pretty much have anything they want and they bid for lines. I haven’t heard of anyone that actually bids for reserve. Its possible there’s a few here that do, but I haven’t met any of them.

A gooseneck? Is it a horse trailer? How big is your wife? I kid. You mean a fifth wheel. Did you buy a one 1-ton to pull it around with?
Are you advocating pilots pull their kids out of school, pay a realtor to dump their house, so they can roll around portable with you?
What possible relevance is your travel trailer to this conversation, if I wanted to live in a travel trailer and cruise around for union scale I would have joined a millwrights or boilermaker union.

Reminds me of the guy on the SkyWest forum, who says he has a military pension, so “payrates be damned.”
