ORD is a relatively junior base for a lot of regionals and majors. If that works, I might settle there.

Is there any benefit to being based in DAY (since that’s the head shed) as far opportunities to get involved in training, union work, etc?
There are opportunities to get off the line in DAY, CVG, and CLT. Our sims are in CLT and CVG, so if you want to be a sim instructor those are good choices. CVG probably also meets most of your stated objectives, it is junior compared to CLT and doesn't take long to hold a line as an FO.

There may be other opportunities available in DAY with the training and safety departments, from time to time.

Living in ORD isn’t an aspiration, but it may end up being the best option if ENY ends up being where I fly. But, if we were going to move, then relocating to a PSA base (CVG, DAY, TYS, ORF or CLT) sounds like the better option. I need to keep watching & thinking and thanks for all your help!

Awesome info - thank you. I want to fly a bunch (to get 1000 hrs 121 to upgrade and then 1000 hrs TPIC to open some doors), but I’d also like to have access to some responsibilities other than flying the line to help others however I can & round out my resume.

CLT is by far the most senior. Then when it seems you’ll be able to hold something there either someone more senior will move back to CLT or you’ll be forced to upgrade to ORF, DAY if you’re lucky. Then it’s perma-reserve.

Republic, EDV, and skyweezy all have cost effective bases, and at the current moment have better pay with similar equipment. Keep your options open.

Look two steps down the road. You’re gonna want a major job eventually. You’re gonna be 45 and your wife (hopefully) settled into a job. You’re gonna want quick progression because you don’t have 10 years to kill. ORD sets you up for AA, UA or SW to be a good option.

Can you please explain how going to a WO closes any options? Doesn’t going to a non-WO close more options than going to a WO? (ie, next to no chance to get hired at AA as a non-WO, non-military guy/gal)

I hear you and thanks. Based on latest seniority numbers I’ve seen (from 9/23/18), either CVG or DAY (possibly ORF as it settles out) look like great options.
