Default LCR and Commuting

Should be able to get LCR in a month or two and trying to figure out if it’s going to be doable to stay home and commute in. It’s a one leg flight to CLT from home and usually a 7am and a 6pm departure. I know they only have to give 12 hours but how often do they give more? Seems like it’s gonna be tight if it’s just 12 hours not to mention not getting on first available flight for whatever reason.

Two flights a day? All sorts of ways for thin options like that to go south. Don't do it unless two-leg or driving are viable options.

No, usually five or six flights a day but that's the earliest and latest. Nine hour drive so not much help there.

I was on LCR as an FO for a month or two... Truthfully I did not like it. And I have 7-8 flights /day between my home airport and CLT. What if you get a call at 8PM for an 8AM showtime? Not enough time to rush to the airport to catch that last flight out (and who wants to go in the night before a reserve assignement to double deadhead somewhere?). Also not enough time to make it by your showtime if the first flight is at 7AM. I hated that uncertainty. I’d rather be SCR sitting in a crash pad than LCR with the way our current contract is written.

Setting yourself up for the possibility of not getting there.

From a different city with a first departure to CLT around 530a and last flight at 800p, that's another story...

I got lucky and skipped LCR. But I had decided that it was not commutable based on being in a similar situation to the one you described.

Well, so much for QoL getting better. Guess it’s more crashpad time then.

Another thing to think about is you have a good possibility of getting an “additional build-up” line when you are awarded LCR, as long as you select the option. I got one every time I was awarded LCR.
