Commuter Question
Can someone help me out with the commuter policy and how it applies to a 2 leg commute?
There is an AA flight that leaves at 5:30a, connects through CLT, and arrives around 9:40a - plenty of time for an 11:00 SCR. There’s also a Delta flight that leaves at 5:45a, connects through ATL, and arrives at 10:00a - again, plenty of time for an 11:00a SCR.
So what happens when I pick the AA flight, get to CLT, and there’s MX or weather or something so I don’t get there in time? The decision was made at the previous airport, so am I covered by the commuter policy, or is it time to call sick?
I’ve heard something about how you just need one good flight out and your connection counts as your second one or, something like that.

Don't call out sick, unless you're actually sick.
Somewhere on the employee site, where they have all of the reliability program stuff, should be some sort of FAQ or PDF of what constitutes proper use of the commuter clause. If I remember correctly, the gist of it is that you either have to have two flights from the first airport, that would get you on a second flight to your base, or one flight from the first that would get you there in time to catch two possible flights to your base. Check the website though, they've got it listed out for that scenario.

You need two possible departures at each airport you go through. So, say you're commuting from Mobile to Dayton. You'd need two flights from Mobile to CLT/ATL, and THEN two flights from CLT/ATL to Dayton, both getting you there before your show time.

That is incorrect according to the materials the company has published under the reliability program section of the website.
