The DFW base opening when we hit 150 aircraft and bring more of the SkyWest and Mesa flying in-house should help with this. You heard it here first.

Does that coincide with closing of TYS

PNS will be the stepping-stone to DFW. Have to open an outstation base nearby to service the hub first. THAT is the PSA way...

[Lots of present and potential future routes: PNS-CLT, PNS-PHL, PNS-DCA, PNS-MIA, PNS-DFW...]

Besides, gotta find another way to shrink CLT!!! In addition to the 2 originators and terminators, we do 3 more CLT-PNS turns EACH DAY. That's a lot of pilot-base potential!

Outstation basing is not a good business model our customer is AA and our customer. Our customer has thousands of flight in and out of CLT DFW ORD PHL and DCA we should be in base aka hub and spike model to be there to support there operation.

I didn’t realize you had access to the data to qualify this statement... To most pilots hub basing seems to make the most sense. You may be surprised what the data actually shows.

So excluding TYS, all of PSA’s outstation bases coincide with a MX base. When a crew starts a trip, they fly the originator to the hub. A flight that would have been made regardless of where that crew’s base would be. The passangers don’t care where our bases are, doesn’t effect them.

Where the big money idea comes from, in my opinion. Overnighting in a MX base, if they weren’t crew bases, all those crews would need to be put into hotels for the night. So when we talk about ORF, DAY, and CVG. We could be potentially talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars saved on hotel costs. Save money, AA is happy.

You might try and argue, why don’t we just have all the MX in the hubs. There just isn’t enough infrastructure to park 4 separate fleet types and parts for those aircraft in those airports.

Just my 2 cents, I don’t have access to data or hard facts on this. Just my speculation and water cooler talks.

Is there any base that has reserve less than a year? And how long?
