You’re a troll. Started your account in late April to come to the PSA forums and tell us how we’re all going to be out of jobs. Oh, and also go on the Mesa pages and talk about you think non-citizens should be removed from the flight deck. You’re either someone who failed out of training here and ended up at Mesa, or a 20+ year Envoy guy who’s still living in 2013.
to be fair the big unemployment numbers are joke jobs.... McDonald’s, restaurant servers, movie theater employees.... etc... any one at a good job kept it for the most part. Most have an extra $1,200 plus they will travel once all the bans are gone.

I agree, especially a lot of families with kids who’ve been locked inside for a month and a half.

The kicker is who can hold out until they come back? I think DP is going all in. No amount of furloughs and concessions can save a BK, while a ballsy play could grab a big market share and put you back on top. Whether we shrivel and die or go out with a bang, it’s going to be interesting over these next 6 months.

This old mainline b@stard got triggered by the flowback thread and created this throwaway account because he’s a coward and also mad that he has less time left on earth than most of the regional pilots.

So with all of his accumulated wealth and wisdom, he has decided to spend some of his precious remaining semi-coherent time by telling the less fortunate and younger pilots how f ucked they are. Just another boomer not only squandering wealth away from younger generations but also spitting in their faces while doing it.

Living like this won’t make those semi-annual EKGs any easier old man.

The job losses for PSA and the other 2 wholly owned will be tantamount to each and every one of you being shut down or at best possibly 20% of your pilot pool surviving the cut. I suggest you all start getting your financial house in order for a huge hit. Stop with the delusions that this is not going to affect you. The Kool-Aid has run out.
Aren’t you some god pilot that has the job that everyone wants? You seem to hang around regional forums for AA wholly owned carriers a lot. I check in from time to time as I am ex bluestreak but you seem really invested in AAs demise. Did they tell you no or something?

So it looks like while the recovery is still slow, it’s recovering slightly quicker than most “experts” predicted. So, at what point would hiring start back up? It looks like today the TSA numbers reached roughly 15% of last year’s same day. At what percentage might airlines start deciding to start training new hires again? I know there was already a shortage of pilots before this all started. During the pandemic, I’m sure a few have left for cargo gigs and a lot of AAL pilots took the early retirement. Any thoughts?

Rumors on the mainline side are tentatively prepare for summer, for the guys and gals sent home. Qualified sim/ground personal are out flying the line currently, so I’m not sure how the company would handle that. Let them finish their lines or pull them and send them back to the school house when that time comes.

I do know when hiring begins it’s probably going to be slow. Classes sent home will need to come back, followed by those who had class dates picked. After that probably call CJOs? I bet it also depends on how much money they’re wanting to spend. Save a bunch of money hiring the compass/TSA folks who are looking for a place to land. Don’t need to send them to ATP/CTP since they’d just need the type.

Its going to be a minute before folks start hiring. Right now, Mainline hiring has put a stop to movement industry wide at the moment. Once mainline carriers start hiring, then regionals will start hiring.

Let’s put this in perspective

you were making $100,000 per year

you’re currently making $15,000 per year

when will you start shopping for that new boat!

it’s gonna be a minute

Personally I don't think anyone will know that answer till the August-October time frame. Even though its returning slightly quicker than what was thought furloughs are still on the table in my opinion. One of those situations where you hope for the best but are preparing for the worst. I believe if it's a large number of individuals being laid off notice has to be given in advance of October.
